Meet the Board

  • Dr. Glen Rayworth

    Dr. Glen Rayworth

    Board Member / Psychologist

    Dr. Glendon Rayworth was born and raised on the East Coast, in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He completed his BA and MA at the University of New Brunswick, and his Psy.D. at New York University. He has provided a wide range of psychological services to clients of all ages in New York City, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario. Since arriving in Toronto, Glendon has divided his services between the Toronto District School Board, various clinical settings, and various volunteer organizations, including the Dorothy Ley Hospice and L'Arche. Glendon is a licensed psychologist. He completed two theses exploring the causes of adolescent problem behaviour. He has followed suit professionally, serving in various related clinical capacities. Glendon has a vision of a safe and inclusive society. He believes that crime is a choice, which is entirely preventable. No amount of violence is an acceptable amount of violence.

    Board Member / Superintendent

    Leslie Grant has been an educator for over 23 years. Currently a Superintendent of Education with the Peel District School Board, Leslie’s career started as a grade 7 teacher at Oakdale Park Middle School in the Jane and Finch community. Growing up in the Eglinton West community of Little Jamaica, Leslie benefited from the support of community organizations that offered specific supports to Black youth as well as a scholarship for Black students which enabled her to go to university. Her career has been devoted to serving Black and marginalized students and as a member of YAAACE’s Board of Directors, she hopes to add to YAAACE’s legacy of serving and supporting young people in underserved communities to realize their highest level of success.

    Marlon is a seasoned finance professional bringing over 15 years of experience across the banking, insurance, and securities industries to the Board of Directors. With a background spanning both boutique and institutional client services, Marlon possesses deep expertise in financial advisory and strategic planning. Specializing in securities valuations, pricing, and back-office regulatory services, [Name] is dedicated to strengthening the organization's operations through robust fiduciary and trust regulatory guiderails. Deeply rooted in the local community, [Name] has been an active member of the Toronto basketball scene since high school, contributing both as a player and through refereeing services.

  • Rohan Robinson

    Rohan Robinson

    Board Member / Educator

    Rohan Robinson (M. Ed) immigrated to Canada from Jamaica at age 13. Since then, he chose education as the path to bring himself and his family upward mobility. He tries to use his various experiences as an immigrant and a youth that grew up with the “at-risk” stigma to help guide students and families. He has been an educator for the last 22 years and passionate about uplifting youth and helping them reach their full potential. After teaching for 15 years, he was promoted to an administrator and continues to guide students by showing them various paths to success. Rohan prides himself on advocating for all students, especially those who do not have the tools and resources to advocate for themselves. Rohan wants to help those roses trying to grow from the concrete and help them reach full blossom. He supports YAAACE because of their commitment to the youth and community.

    Board Member / Law Enforcement

    Marlon Perez, a native of the Jane and Finch community, is a YAAACE alumni dedicated to actively contributing to the betterment of his community. His passion for coaching and mentoring led him to become an influential figure in the lives of numerous young individuals. Marlon's pursuit of education led him to the University of Guelph Humber where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Applied Sciences in Justice Studies. With this academic background, he possesses a comprehensive understanding of the importance of justice and equality in society. Even after graduating, Marlon remains deeply engaged in his community, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to youth development. His genuine interest in empowering the next generation, coupled with his experiences and educational foundation, enables him to provide valuable guidance and support to those in need. Marlon Perez's remarkable dedication and active involvement in his community exemplify his character and unwavering commitment to fostering positive change in the lives of young individuals.

    Karl Subban is best known as the father of three NHL players: P.K., Malcolm and Jordan. And, after years of being asked how they did it, he recently wrote a book, aptly titled: How We Did It: The Subban Plan for Success in Hockey, School, and Life, due out in paperback this fall. Every hockey parent in Canada wants to know how he managed to guide not just one, but three sons into the most coveted profession in Canada. Jamaican-born Subban has, in fact, dedicated his life to helping others reach their potential, not only as a father of five, but also a school teacher, and the book documents his views on resilience, perseverance and how to bring the best out of everyone.
