The Summer Institute (S.I.) represents Y.A.A.A.C.E’s continued commitment to actively engage children and youth by providing them with rich educational and social experiences. Our camp accommodates students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.
Camp Director, Devon Jones along with the Camp Coordinators and the S.I steering committee, which consist of an eclectic group of educators, creates a robust curriculum that has an emphasis on S.T.E.M, Literacy and the Arts each summer. Hence, we coin the Summer Institute as a S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math) based initiative.
At the S.I., we have many fun filled excursions and activities planned for the summer. Some of the scheduled destinations include Canada’s Wonderland, Ontario Place, Playdium Mississauga and Wild Water Kingdom, as well as daytime retreats to the Valens Conservation Area, overnight retreats to the Nine Heavens Healing Academy, etc.
We would like to extend special thanks to our sponsors and partners: Laidlaw Foundation, Mike Pinball Clemons Foundation, Toronto Police Services, Canadian Tire Jumpstart, Service Canada, TDSB Focus on Youth, Telus and Blackcreek Community and Health Center for their continued support over the summer.
